On October 17, ED to MED advocates from around the country will urge their Members of Congress to preserve federal financial aid and loan repayment programs critical to the future health care workforce. Get involved by participating in the #COMDAY19 challenge and joining AACOM’s Virtual Hill Day!

In conjunction with Virtual Hill Day, AACOM will host COM Day on Capitol Hill, a yearly advocacy event in which osteopathic medical school deans, the Assembly of Osteopathic Graduate Medical Educators, and other designated AACOM members travel to Washington, DC to meet with elected officials about the federal policy issues affecting osteopathic medical education and the future health care workforce.

Virtual Hill Day

Social media is a powerful tool for connecting with Congress. Fewer than 30 responses to a social media post by a Member of Congress is enough to capture a staffer’s attention. Lawmakers need to hear from health professions students about the impacts of graduate student debt on the future health care workforce.

Here’s how to get involved:

  • Review our talking points on how programs like Grad PLUS and PSLF help millions of Americans each year.
  • Let your friends know that you are an ED to MED advocate by using our GIPHY stickers on Instagram or Snapchat (search for ED2MED). Pro tip: use the podium sticker to share your story and tell others why we need to protect federal financial aid!

  • Share your advocacy by adding a COM Day Facebook frame to your profile picture.
          1. Log in to your Facebook profile.
          2. Click on the “Update Profile Picture” button.
          3. Click “Add Frame.”
          4. Search “#COMDAY19″ to find the frame.
          5. Select the frame and urge your friends to join the movement!
          6. Post this message on your Facebook page:
“I’m joining @edtomed on October 17 to urge Congress to protect federal student financial aid and loan repayment programs. I would love for you to join me and invite others in your network to participate. #COMDay19 http://bit.ly/COMDay19”
